'Arrow': 'Teen Wolf' star Colton Haynes made series regular

Colton Haynes has been promoted to a series regular on Arrow.

The former Teen Wolf star recently made his first appearance on The CW's superhero drama as teen rebel Roy Harper.

Haynes's promotion will take effect starting with Arrow's forthcoming second season, while he will also continue to recur throughout the remainder of season one, TVLinereports.

In the original DC comics on which Arrow is based, the Roy Harper character becomes the costumed sidekick of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).

The streetwise Harper will become romantically involved with Oliver's sister Thea (Willa Holland) in future episodes of the series.

"Our interpretation of Roy is hopefully unexpected," said show exec Marc Guggenheim. "Obviously he's from a very different side of the tracks from Thea, so that gives us a fun dynamic to play around with."

Haynes's expanded Arrow role follows a similar promotion for actress Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), who will also feature as a series regular in season two.

Arrow is currently on a midseason hiatus and will return to The CW in the US and Sky1 in the UK later this month.
